St. Joseph Healthcare’s Cardiac Rehabilitation program is designed to aid patients recovering from a heart attack or surgery, living with stable angina or physically preparing for all types of cardiac surgery. The medically supervised, 12- week program helps cardiac patients by improving their overall physical, mental and social well-being.

“Many cardiac patients are understandably nervous about exercising with a heart condition,” notes Mae Morin, RN, Cardiac Rehab Clinical Manager. “In addition to engaging each patient in becoming an active participant in their own heart health, our program provides a safe, customized exercise routine, and education on healthy living.”
Wireless electronic monitors allow Registered Nurses with advanced education and training in Cardiology to watch for patterns and changes in heart rhythm, rate and blood pressure through a telemetry system. With this information, the staff customizes an exercise program that will cause the least amount of stress, while improving overall physical condition.
While the current telemetry system has served our patients and staff well during the last nine years, it is in need of replacement. Proceeds from this year’s tournament will facilitate the purchase of a new system with enhanced technology that will provide physicians and nurses with instant access to results through an upload of the monitor’s data to the patient’s electronic medical record. By replacing the existing telemetry system, our patients will truly find that advanced medicine and compassionate healing go hand-in-hand at St. Joseph Healthcare.
