The St. Joseph Hospital Volunteer Department assists in placing volunteers throughout the hospital in various capacities. Volunteers donate countless hours of service delivering mail and flowers, performing clerical duties and staffing the Front Desk area.

Volunteers of all ages and experience levels are welcome to join in the service to our community. The Volunteer Department will work to match your unique skills to the needs within the hospital.

Steps to becoming a volunteer include:

  • Completing a volunteer application
  • Participating in an interview
  • Completing orientation
  • Completing immunization screenings

If you are an adult interested in volunteering, you can apply online to start the process. Or you can contact the Volunteer department at (207) 262-1794 to have an application sent to you. You may also apply online using our online application form.

If you are under 18 years of age and interested in volunteering, please know that junior volunteer opportunities are only available during the summer months. Please contact the Volunteer department at (207) 262-1794 for more information on becoming a part of the junior volunteer program.

St. Joseph Hospital Auxiliary

Since 1950, the St. Joseph Hospital Auxiliary has helped promote and sustain the mission of St. Joseph Hospital through a variety of community events. The Auxiliary actively supports the hospital by organizing and leading fundraising events. Yearly, the Auxiliary donates the proceeds from these events to the hospital to help purchase new technology or help begin new service areas.

The Auxiliary manages Helen’s – the Hospital gift shop. In addition, the Auxiliary organizes an October Fashion Show and the annual Lights of Remembrance program.

The Auxiliary is always looking for new community members to join their group. The Auxiliary provides three different membership levels: active members, sustaining members and benefactors.

  • Active members pay annual dues of $10, and may wish to participate in active service programs and functions of the Auxiliary.
  • Sustaining members pay annual dues of $25 to support the aims of the Auxiliary, and may wish to engage in active participation in Auxiliary functions or programs.
  • Benefactors pay one lifetime fee of $100. Benefactors will be recognized with a plaque placed in a prominent location within the hospital. They may enjoy the same membership privileges as an active or sustaining member.

To become a member of the St. Joseph Hospital Auxiliary, or to learn more about this organization, contact the Public Affairs office at (207) 262-1720.
